In the years since it’s founding in 2005–and its acquisition in 2006 by Google–YouTube has come a long way from just focusing on user-generated content (think: Star Wars Kid). Many studios and distribution companies now have their own YouTube channel, offering clips and trailers. YouTube also has sections for full length feature films and TV shows.

Missed that episode of Family Guy? Need to catch up on 30 Rock? Hulu to the rescue! In March 2007, NBC Universal and Fox Entertainment entered into a joint venture now known as Hulu. In the three years since, Hulu became one of the top video streaming sites on the Internet. According to a recent report by comScore VideoMetrix, Hulu ranked in fourth place, beating out Viacom and Microsoft streaming sites.
